Making a monumental leap into the high-tech electronics ecosystem, Rajasthan inaugurated its first-ever semiconductor cluster in Bhiwadi, Alwar district, yesterday, May 15, 2026. The historic launch places the state firmly on the map of India’s rapidly expanding semiconductor manufacturing landscape.
The state-of-the-art facility, launched by Sahasra Semiconductors Pvt Ltd., was inaugurated virtually by Union Electronics and IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw and Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma.

Inside the Bhiwadi Semiconductor Hub
Located within the dedicated Electronics Manufacturing Cluster at Salarpur, Khushkhera, this new unit specializes in the crucial downstream processes of the semiconductor supply chain.
- Core Functions: The facility focuses on ATMP (Assembly, Testing, Marking, and Packaging) and OSAT (Outsourced Semiconductor Assembly and Test). These are critical steps where fabricated wafers are assembled into individual chips, rigorously tested, and packaged for final distribution.
- Production Capacity: The unit currently boasts an impressive annual packaging capacity of 60 million units, specializing in memory products.
- Global Footprint: Underscoring its quality and immediate impact, over 60% of the facility’s current production is already being exported to major global markets including the United States, Germany, France, Eastern Europe, China, and Nepal.
Boosting the Regional Economy
The Electronics Manufacturing Cluster at Bhiwadi, strategically positioned near the Delhi-NCR region, is set to be an economic powerhouse for Rajasthan.
- The zone has already attracted planned investments exceeding Rs 1,200 crore from around 20 companies.
- This industrial surge is projected to generate employment for 2,500 to 2,700 people, providing a significant boost to local skill development and job creation.
The Rajasthan Semiconductor Policy
This inauguration aligns perfectly with the recently introduced Rajasthan Semiconductor Policy launched in March 2026. The proactive policy is designed to cultivate a robust semiconductor ecosystem by offering land support, capital incentives, and infrastructure development, aiming to draw massive electronics manufacturing investments to the Delhi-NCR-linked industrial belt.
By successfully launching its first OSAT/ATMP facility, Rajasthan has taken a decisive step toward self-reliance in high-tech manufacturing, supporting India’s broader vision of becoming a global semiconductor hub.
